He was born July 22, 1926, to John and C. Edna (Kistler) Rogers. Mr. Rogers enlisted into the Army Air Corps in active duty in January 1945, serving with the 20th Army Air Corps, 87th Airdrome Squadron in the Pacific Theater on Guam and Saipan. He married Doris E. Starkey Sept. 19, 1947, and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Thomas (Michele) Rogers of Clyde, Beverly (Robert) Nobles of Avon Lake, Russell (Terri) Rogers of Clyde and Randall (Lisa) Rogers of Port Clinton; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Annabelle (Lloyd) Tea of Clyde.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl Rogers, Lester Rogers and Robert Rogers; and one sister, Margaret Rogers. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, with military honors provided by the Clyde American Legion and VFW. Memorials may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St., Port Clinton, or Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
