ALLEN, Sr., Herman R. age 86, born July 5, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

He attended Dunbar High School and retired from GM/Delco Products Division after 32 years of service.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anna R. (McGuire) Allen; parents, John and Odessa Allen; brothers, Ray L., John R. "Boonie" and Charles L. Allen; sisters, Lillian Arrington, Gwendolyn Brown; son, Hiram W. Allen "Buttons"; daughter-in-law, Elaine Allen.

He is survived by his children, Herman R. Jr. (Beverly), Reginald T. Sr., John (Linda) and Debra Allen; a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration will be held 11 am Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway Street. Rev. Melvin Jackson officiating. Interment Greencastle Cemetery. Visitation from 9-11 am.

Family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Condolences may be expressed at [email protected]
