Gayle Dyer Akers, 82, of Clyde died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Akers was born August 11, 1932 in Baird, Texas to A. E. and Beulah May (McWhorter) Dyer Sr.
She was a lifelong resident of Callahan County, graduating from Baird High School in 1949.
Mrs. Akers was the widow of Ira Roy Akers Sr. whom she married August 25, 1954 in Baird.
She attended Hardin Simmons University and graduated from Sul Ross University in 1954. Mrs. Akers was a member of First Baptist Church, was on the Decorate Clyde Committee, Clyde Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, 4-H and Clyde Junior Baseball.

Mrs. Akers is survived by two sons, Ira Roy (Iky) Akers Jr. and Archie Gerald Akers and wife Lori all of Clyde; two daughters, Barbara Gay Williams and husband Roy of Rhome and Brenda Elaine Windham and husband Robert of Flower Mound; one brother, James Dyer and wife Jan of Fort Davis; one sister, Marian Windham of Baird; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Akers Holley and husband Reggie of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, Christina Ann Brewster and husband Devin, Catherine May Hall and husband Tony, Ira Roy Akers III and wife Kristine, Jesse Robert Windham, Jared Michael Akers and wife Laura, Mitchell Jordan Akers, Trevor Jake Windham and wife Sami, Matthew Blake Akers and Rachel Gayle Windham and six great grandchildren, Hayden Glenn Hall, Haddie-Grace Hall, Harlow Grace Brewster, Elliott Kay Akers, Berkley Christine Brewster and Ira Lincoln Akers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ira Roy Akers in 1974, brother A.E. Dyer Jr. and sister Ruth Elliott.

We would like to especially thank her lifelong friends, Beverly Howe, Ruby Richardson and her college roommate Elisabeth "Libo" Longbotham for all their love and support for our mother. Also, a very special thank you to Joyce Cottrell for loving and caring for our mom in her final days.
