Chester R. Jaynes, age 83, died September 20, 2014 in Murray while surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born February 19, 1931 in Murray to Chester Dee Jaynes and Maneta A. Gilman.

He faithfully served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to Utah to work for the Utah Department of Transportation.

Chester painted crosswalks and parking lots for the State of Utah. After forty-one years, he retired from UDOT.

Chester was a longtime resident of Crescent, now Sandy.

He is survived by sister-in-law, Nancy (Perry) Jaynes Olsen; and many loving nieces and nephews. Chester was preceded in death by parents; brother, L. Dee Jaynes; and sister, Wanda Jaynes Pollock.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Crosslands Care Center and Rocky Mountain Care Center in Murray.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake Hills Mortuary Chapel, 10055 South State Street (100 East), Sandy. A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Interment will follow the services in the Crescent Cemetery.
