Arthur served our country in the U.S. Navy from July 2,1951 - June 24, 1955. During his naval service he earned the national defense service medal and the navy occupational service medal. As a young man he accepted Christ as his Savior and served the Lord in many capacities through the course of his life. Arthur pursued a degree in Theology and at age 61 earned a masters degree in Education. He had many careers that includes; engineer for General Motors, Pastor, Missionary in Huanuco, Peru and teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District, Emelita Street School in Encino California.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Gibbs of 25 years. Other members of his family include his children, Cathy (David) Humphreys, Cindy (Michael) Rathmann, Ray (Susan) Gibbs, Mary Gurney, Anna (Craig) Pearce and Grace Bell; 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. His siblings are, Alice (Ed) Oldfield, Becky (Pete) Shedor, Linda (Joe) Keeley, Debbie (Bob) Thompson, Tim (Jolene) Gibbs and (Mary Jane Gibbs). Arthur Gibbs is survived by many extended family members and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Preceded in Death by his parents, Arthur and Freda Gibbs; grandchildren, Christina Gibbs and Jordan Humphreys; and siblings, Ronald Gibbs and Gloria Klein.
Visitation will be held at North Brevard Funeral Home on Monday September 29, 2014, from 5-7PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Internment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida.
