Retired Master Sgt. Eddie Dean Alexander, 66, of Killeen, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen with Pastor David G. Reynolds officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow the service in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. M16


Eddie was born in Belzoni, Mississippi.

Services for retired Master Sgt. Eddie Dean Alexander, Sr. 66, of Killeen will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 12:00 noon, at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen. Pastor David G. Reynolds is officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery.


Mr. Alexander passed away September 23, 2014. He was born August 16, 1948 in Belzoni, Mississippi to the parents of Charles B. Alexander and Lula Commons and was raised in Jackson, Mississippi.


Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.


Eddie Dean Alexander, Sr. joined the US Army in 1966 serving in Vietnam. He served honorably for 28 ½ years retiring in his last position as a Sergeant Major for III Corps, Inspector General.


After retirement, he was actively involved in community organizations including positions held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars as Post Commander and Trustee for Post 9191; District 14 Junior Vice; and State Veteran of Foreign Wars Aide-D-Camp. Eddie was a member of the Masonic Temple and life member of the Disabled American Veteran organization. He worked tirelessly as an advocate for all veterans and was well respected in the community. He was a Christ-Follower who believed in strong family values, exceptional work ethic as well as supporting his friends and loved ones. He lived life to the fullest and made no apologies for being who he was and his belief system.


Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Lefty Alexander, Charlie Alexander, Joseph Alexander, Hank Alexander, James Alexander, and Johnnie Alexander.


He leaves to his legacy, his wife, Gloria Barnes Alexander of forty-eight years, his daughters, Shelby Alexander Griggs, Lisa Alexander, his son, Eddie Alexander, Jr., his sister, Dr. Dorothy Alexander, and his brothers, Bing Alexander, and Edward Alexander: Ten grandchildren; Johnathon Griggs, Mikayla Griggs, Demetrius Alexander, Victoria Bates, Donovan Alexander, U'raiyah Alexander, Jai'sun Alexander, Khi'el Alexander, Ez'rhi Alexander, Khi'rah Alexander, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
