Lois Nelwyn Craig, or Nell as everyone knew her, was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Dora to the home of Ida Mae (Holliday) and Carl Latham "Pete" Field, and died at her home on Sept. 24, 2014. Nell graduated from Cora High School in 1952, and was a member of the Dora Church of Christ. After graduation, she attended nursing school in Lubbock. On Jan. 19, 1957 in Bethel, she was married to Kenneth Craig. They made their home in Elida. Nell was a wonderful cook, and always had more than plenty on the table for her family and whoever else might come. She raised a large garden every year, and canned everything her family had not consumed. Nell had a servant's heart and loved doing for others.
She is survived by Kenneth, her husband of more than 57 years of their home; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Tawnya Craig of Elida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and David Houston of Clovis and Katy and Dale Rasco of Hobbs, NM; eight grandchildren, Russell (Allison) Craig, Ryan (Tana) Craig, Randal (Jayme) Craig, Zachary Lara, Heather Bender, Nathan (Rachel) Rasco, Terrence (Jenifer) Rasco and Katlyn Rasco; seven great-grandchildren, Alexus, Mariah and Rylee Craig, Payden Page, Seth Bender, Chelsea Baron and Sailor Rasco. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Carl L. Field, Jr., Billy Joe Field and Henry N. Field.
