Nelson A "Nelse" Moore was born on October 21, 1924 in Houston County, Tennessee, the son of George Moore and Edna (Beard) Moore.
He grew up in the Spring Hill community on Moore Branch, and later served in the US Marine Corps. He eventually moved back to Clarksville, was married to Mary Wilyard, and he and wife settled on her home place on Dotsonville Road.
Nelse's favorite hobbies and pastimes were outings with his wife, walking, riding through the country side, growing flowers, the beach, mountains and listening to favorite tunes.
Helping and visiting with people brought him great pleasure, and he and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels, assisted with chores at church and in the community. The fellowship and exercise at Ajax Turner Senior Center also enriched his life.
Retired from the Cadillac division of General Motors, Nelse died at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville on September 22, 2014.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carlos "Cotton" Moore and Nick Moore, and by his sisters Valeria Moore, Mildred (Moore) Berry and Ethel (Moore) Gunson, he is survived by his wife; a married son; a granddaughter; and a sister.
Burial was in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Woodlawn.
