Funeral services are planned for Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Al Cougill officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.
Mr. Hammock is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fay P. Hammock; his son, Robert P. Hammock of Elmore County, Ala.; his daughter, Kayla (Mark) Gregory of LaFayette; three sisters, Patricia H. Betts and Helen Fay Biggers, both of Valley, and Martha Jean (Bill) Leverett of West Point; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Born March 5, 1933 in Lanett, Mr. Hammock was the son of the late Rosa Nell Orrick Hammock and Robert B. Hammock. He was a graduate of Lanett High School and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mr. Hammock was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens Lanett Mill and a veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in LaFayette, was a former Boy Scout leader and Junior Achievement advisor.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
