Wife of James Rutherford Miller of Albia, Monroe County, Iowa from 16 April 1944 to 21 February 1978. Married in Tempe, Maricopa County, Arizona.

"Verna Hazel Miller, 89, retired chief matron of the Phoenix Day Nursery, died April 4, 1988 in Phoenix. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Ave.
Miller, a Glendale resident, moved to Arizona in 1941 from her native Nebraska and worked for the nursery for 25 years. She was a member of the "Grandma's Band" and a past Commander of the Navy Mothers. Survivors include a daughter, Olive Doran, four sons, Charles, Kenneth, Robert and Francis, a brother, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren."
