MIDDLEPORT — Milo VanHouten, 2448 Johnson Creek Road, died Thursday at the Inter-Community Hospital in Newfane following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 2, 1911 in Canisteo, N.Y., son of the late William and Mary (Silsby) VanHouten, and had resided in Middleport since 1949. He was retired from the Western Block Co. in Lockport, and was a member of Somerset Lodge #639 F&A.M., the Lockport Loyal Order of the Moose #617, the Sacred Heart Club of Medina, and the United Ostomy Association Inc., Oak Orchard Chapter.
He and his wife, Myrtle, who survives him, have been married for 56 years.
He was father of the late Judy (VanHouten) Higgins.
Besides his wife, survivors include a granddaughter, Cindy E. Higgins of Middleport, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday (2-4, 7-9) at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Everett Hendrickson will officiate and burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
