John D. Shyer, well-known carpenter, 1409 North Wilson Avenue, died at 6:35 o'clock Thursday morning at the Decatur and Macon County Hospital. He was fifty-six years old last August. His death was caused by pneumonia after an illness of only a week. He was taken to the hospital last Saturday.

Mr. Shyer was born in Latham, Logan County, August 23, 1871. All his life had been spent in Latham until he came to Decatur two years ago. He was a son of Jacob and Sophia Shyer of Logan County, both of whom are now deceased. He was a member of the Christian Church at Latham. He is survived by his wife, Celia Shyer, two brothers and two sisters, Allen Shyer of Decatur and J.W. Shyer of Latham; Mrs. Samuel D. Jarvis of Arkansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Stella Stinnett of Chicago. The body was taken to Brintlinger & Sons funeral directors and prepared for burial.
