Galen S. Martin, Sr., 91, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, died Friday, September 19, 2014 in the home.
Born July 12, 1923 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late James Guy and Esther Slaybaugh Martin.
Galen was a retired Dairy Farmer. He then went on to work at Henry’s Bakery and was a custodian for the Shippensburg Area School District. He was a graduate of the former Shippensburg High School.
Galen was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C. “Sis” Rosenberry Martin who died November 18, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Linda Baer, his twin brother, Gordon and other brother, Kenneth.
Surviving are one son, Galen S. (Ginny) Martin, Jr. and a daughter, Betty Lou (Arthur) Pisle all of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Shane Martin, Theresa Richwine, Gary Baer, and Larry Baer; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be The Rev. Harold E. Yeager.
