Brian Wilson Curtis passed away May 15, 2009, in his sleep at his Highfield Farm in Brownsville, VT after a year-long battle with heart disease. Brian was born November 16, 1935.

He started and ended his life on Vermont farms, and in between was a wonderful friend to many, and a loving husband, uncle, brother, and especially caring and devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.

Brian was educated at the Moses Brown School in Providence and graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 1958.

He spent most of his adult life in Rhode Island raising a family, and being a pioneer, and he worked tirelessly in the textile industry mastering the art of dyeing and finishing (at Kenyon Piece Dyeworks, founded by his father, Raymond; and at Bradford Printing and Finishing). He was active in the RI Republican Party, served a variety of positions at St. Luke Episcopal Church and was a member of the East Greenwich Town Council in the 1960s. He had numerous successes and achievements during his career, but always put his family, friends, business relationships and co-workers above any personal gain or ambition.

In the late 1980s, he returned to his roots and began putting together his farm in Brownsville where he worked the fields, made lasting friends, loved to garden, raised his shorthorn cattle and Belgian draft horses, entertained family and friends, snowmobiled, rode Ben and Bob in local parades, served masterful meals, made real Vermont maple syrup, enjoyed his Brownsville neighbors, and on and on. It was a place where he was truly at home and at peace.

Brian was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Muriel, his wife, Connie, brothers, Malcolm and David (and his wife Carolyn).

He is survived by his brother, Richard Curtis (and his wife Carolyn), ex-wife Rita Curtis, children Sandy, Greg, Todd, Meg and Todd, nine loving grandchildren, and a multitude of wonderful friends, all of whom he adored.

Dad, you were loved by many, and will be deeply missed by all you touched through the years.

Burial is in Sheddsville cemetery.
