Matt Olson Kvilhaug died at his home in Blue Mounds Thursday, Sept 15 at 7:30 o'clock. Death was due to cancer from which he suffered the past two years. ...Pallbearers were John Hagestuen, Andrew Nali, Ole J. Vinge, Peter Rasmussen, Carl Norland & Paul Swenhaugen.

Mr. Kvilhaug was born in Kvilhaug on Karmoen, Norway, on March 28, 1878, son of Ole & Ragnhild O. Kvilhaug. He came from Norway to Iowa in 1904. From there he went to Duluth in 1905, where he worked at carpentering until 1912, when he went to Dovray, MN. In 1915 he came to Pope County, living on a farm west of Starbuck, and in 1919 he moved to a farm in Blue Mounds where he continued to reside until his death.

April 26, 1901 he was married to Olava O. Ferkingstad, who survives him. He is also survived by 12 children & 4 grandchildren & 4 sisters, living in Norway. The children are Mrs. Otto Olson, Ole, Laura, Myrtle, Harold, Sigurd, Lizzie, Selma, Melvin, Theodore, Norman & Ruth.
