Mrs. Evelyn Marie Black, age 69, of Lula Rd., Lula, GA, passed away at her home on Monday, September 22, 2014, following an extended illness. She was born November 3, 1944 in Blairsville, GA to the late Naaman and Sarah (Norwood) Thomas. Mrs. Black had lived in Lula for the past 45 years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, who loved flowers, her grandchildren, and most of all her Lord. Mrs. Black was preceded in death also by a brother, Edward Thomas and a sister, Vella Orr. She was a member of Caanan Baptist Church in Alto, GA.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Johnny Black of Lula, GA, children, Mary Ann Black of Gillsville, GA and Randy and Annette Black of Lula, GA, sisters, Nancy and James Frankenberg of Lula, GA, Kathy and Manuel Arteraga of Homer, GA, Angela Tallent of Blue Ridge, GA, Faye Duckworth of Blairsville, GA and Judy and Ronnie Hughes of KY, brothers, Joe and Pearl Thomas of Lula, GA, and Larry Thomas of Blairsville, GA, three grandchildren, Caleb Black, Michael Black and Michelle Black.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chad Shook and Rev. Jamie Harvey officiating. Pallbearers will be Caleb Black, Michael Black, Joseph Bergin, Christopher Orr, Solomon Davis and Zachary Gibbs. Interment will follow in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m.
