Alice M. Henley, 89, Jefferson City, died Sunday at the Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born Dec. 17, 1901, in Miller County, a daughter of Gottlob and Mary Jane Graham Dorl. She was married June 22, 1923, in Tuscumbia, to Marcus M. Henley, who died Nov. 17, 1975.
She was a lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area and attended school in Etterville and Eugene. She was employed in her family's general store in Etterville and later was employed in a number of retail stores in Jefferson City. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Esther Circle.
Survivors include: two sons, Harold Henley and Herbert Henley, both of Jefferson City; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Fry, Chesterfield, Ind., Mrs. Joan O'Neal, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Shirley Ferguson, Mesa, Ariz., Kathryn Henley, Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Luella Allee, St. Johns, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Max Wetzel and Mrs. Bailey Shikles, both of Eldon; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Earl Henley, and one daughter, Alma Jean Henley, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. F. William Mackie will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, near Eldon. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to the Woodhaven Learning Center, Columbia.
