Son of Andrew (who died in 1898) and Rosina Catherine Kochendorfer Wissel (1833-1915). In 1870, this family lived in Partridge Twp, Woodford, IL. Siblings included Mary (1853-1918), Catherine/Kate (1858), Margaret/Maggie Wissell Ries (1860-1906), Barbara Wissell Montgomery (1863-1895), Sarah/Rosina (1868), and John (1870-1945). Edward was born in 1874. Later, Andrew took over the family farm in Partridge Twp, Woodford, IL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Edward, and a sister. He had been making his home with his sister-in-law, Nora Wissell (Edward's widow), in Peoria. Information from his obituary in the 11 Apr 1947 Metamora Herald. There seems to be no marker, but the obit does say burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Note: This family is frequently mis-spelled "Wessell" or "Wassell" in census records. He was actually predeceased by all of his five sisters.
