William Robert Maillie was born on 21 October 1889 in Westgate or Westgate County, Iowa per his WWI Draft Record to what appears to be parents Robert Maillie and Minerva "Minnie" (Fox), Maillie. His marriage record indicated his father was born in Scotland and his mother was born in Iowa.

Per census he was raised in Iowa. The 1900 US Census found him at age 12 with his parents in Sumner, Bremer, Iowa and at some point he migrated to the Odessa, Washington area where he stated he was living at the time of his WWI Draft Registration and working as a dairyman.

It would appear it was during this time that he met nearby Reardan, Washington resident and future wife Maude Adell Kuck, formerly of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. They were married on Valentine's Day 1911 in Spokane, Washington with Maude's brother Ernest Martin Cook and her brother in-law Charles "Everett" Crosby as witnesses.

Research found that over the course of Robert's life he had been a dairyman, farmer, barber and realtor. Census records found him and his wife living in Goldendale and Castle Rock, Washington. It appears that Robert and Maude primarily raised their children in Castle Rock, Washington and Hood River, Oregon. They later resided many years in the Salem, Oregon area of Marion County where they both passed away.

This contributor is still seeking any photos of William and Maude Maillie or any of her Kuck/Cook siblings to help identify the people in some old passed down family photos. There are now few people left living that could help identify some of these old family members that they might remember from their childhoods.

William and Maude are confirmed to be buried in the Rose City Cemetery. Maude's sister Wanda Johnston is buried there with her husband as well.

Note: The following information is taken from found records, unconfirmed Public Member Trees online via ancestry.com and some correspondence with living descendants in 2015. There is potential for some error. Robert's birth date is in question as in some places it is listed as October 21, 1889 and some places as October 29, 1887. The following is a best attempt to leave some record. Thank You to Maillie descendants for newspaper clipping.
