Sgt. U.S. Army, {US54828849}, Vietnam War-Sgt. Lyden was killed in action by an explosive device during Operation Apache Snow, {Hamburger Hill}, on 5-15-1969 while serving as a Light Weapons Infantryman with Co. A of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Sgt. Lyden started his tour of Vietnam on 8-29-1968.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Clarence P. Lyden of 575 Gear Street, Galena, Illinois, and he enlisted with the Army in Chicago on 3-25-1968.

Awards: Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
