Johnny Doyle Sharp, 71 of Highbridge Community, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at McAlester Regional Health Center. Johnny was born April 18, 1943 at Highbridge Community, Oklahoma. He married Donna Whitten Sharp on July 1, 1967 at Wilburton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Wilburton High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, a Master’s Degree at East Central University, Ada. He served 3 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve Division. He was an educator in the Hartshorne Public School System for 30 years, worked as a cook and tutor at Jones Academy for 44 years. Johnny enjoyed raising cattle, watching NASCAR and spending time with his family. Johnny took pride in serving his country and being a part of the Cherokee tribe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Burton and Reba Sharp; sister, Brenda Ragan and son-in-law, Vincent England. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Hartshorne with Mr. David Sanchez and Rev. David Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Highbridge Cemetery, Wilburton, Oklahoma.
