DEATH OF MRS. JANE GOODWIN AT ROCKPORT, ILL--WAS TAKEN ILL WHILE NURSING HER SON, WHO IS YET VERY BAD OFF
Rockport, Ill. -- Nov. 27 --Mrs. Jane Goodwin died at her home on Friday night after an illness of only a few days of pneumonia. The deceased was about 69 years of age, and leaves several children, a number of grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The esteem in which she was held can only be estimated by the large crowd of sympathizing friends who gathered at the home for the short funeral service yesterday morning, Rev. Stephen Williams officiating. The remains were laid away in the Samuel Taylor Cemetery near this place. A son of the deceased, Pleas Goodwin, has been very ill of typhoid fever for several weeks, and while nursing him the mother contracted the cold, which eventually caused her death. The young man is still very ill and his friends are quite anxious as to his recovery.
