Pitcher Joe Giard was originally property of the Yankees, but was traded to the St. Louis Brown before the 1925 season along with Joe Bush and Milt Gaston for a former Yankees pitcher, Urban Shocker. After two seasons in St. Louis where he went 10-5 and 3-10 he was traded back to New York along with Cedric Durst for Sad Sam Jones in February of 1927. Giard was a member of the famed '27 Yankees Murderers Row Team, going 0-0 in just 18 games, all in mop-up relief. He was released to the American Association after the season, ending his Major League Career. His lifetime record in the majors was 13-15 in 68 games with a 5.96 ERA.
