Mary Frances (Dodson) Burton, 86, died peacefully at her home in Overland Park on Friday, September 19, 2014, with her loving family present. She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., to Oliver E. Dodson, Sr. and Anna Dodson. She was of the Catholic faith. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, John, daughter, Theresa; brother, Oliver Dodson, Jr., and sister, Katherine Thatcher. She is survived by daughters, Christina Shumway, Overland Park, and Mary Shaver (Leroy), Kansas City, Kan., and son, James Samek (Audrey), 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Arnold, Independence, Pat Musil (Jerry), Kansas City, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary enjoyed life and being with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Chapel Hill- Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK.
