J.C. Boyd, 87, of McComb, died Feb. 29, 2004, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Visitation is 5 to 10 tonight at McComb Gospel Assembly Church on Highway 44 East, and 10 a.m. Wednesday until services thereat 2 p.m. Bro. Bobby Boyd and Bro. Ray Bowling will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boyd was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Lawrence County. He was the son of Edward Boyd and Armista Boyd.
He was a contractor and a former employee of Croft Metals.He was a member of McComb Gospel Assembly Church.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Billy Boyd; one sister, Vaudia Marie Daniels; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Geree Dunaway Boyd of McComb; four sons and daughters-in-law, Delton and Jeanette Boyd of Price, Utah, Paul and Sherrie Boyd of Bay Springs, Bobby and Sue Boyd of Marietta, Ga., and Tim and Debra Boyd of Richland;three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Alice and Jerry Kitchens of Seminary, Jessie Ree Easley of Chandler, Texas, and Anita and Donnie Comeaux of Brandon; 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Boyte, Paul "Skeet" Boyd Jr., Marc Boyd, Dale Boyd, Jonathan Martin, Donald Martin, Mark Martin and Landon Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Boyd,Bobby Joe Boyd and Johnny Manzella.
