She was born August 20, 1919 in Nineveh, PA daughter of John B. and Mary Black Carter. She had resided in Florida since 1947.
She taught in Burgettstown, PA Schools and Port Orange Elementary School, FL. She was a charter member of the Westminister By-the Sea Presbyterian Church, the Abigail Barthel Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cherry Laurel Garden Club, all of Daytona Beach.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth L. Smith of Daytona Beach and Fred C. Smith of Honolulu, HI.
Her husband, Kenneth L. Smith, died December 26, 1977.
Graveside services will be held at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.--Observer-Reporter, June 3, 1987
