Samuel H. Gedney, 77, died at the St. Joseph hospital Tuesday evening following a major operation that was performed on Monday of this week.
Gedney had been in ill health for some time, but his condition was not regarded as serius until the latter pat of last week.
Well known over Appanoose county, many friends mourn his passing. Born in Pleasant township, March 21, 1861 near Numa, Gedney grew to young manhood there. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gedney, who had 10 children in all, Samuel was the last of the ten.
Gedney farmed most of his life. In recent years he had lived in Centerville staying with his mother until her death and then moving in with Mrs. Dell Linn, 815 Drake Ave.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 at the Miller funeral home. Rev. H. E. Trimble will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
