Leon Miller Anderson, age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2014.

Yogi was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 2, 1920 and was the son of the late William E. Anderson and Mertie M. Miller Anderson. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWII. Yogi made his career with DuPont where he worked as a supervisor in the Jackson Lab at the company's Chambers Works site and retired after 42 years of dedicated service.

He was a life member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a member of VFW Post No. 15008 in Woodbury, NJ and was a longtime volunteer with the Blood Bank of Delaware. An exceptional handyman, Yogi enjoyed working around the house. He was a man of many interests and especially liked gardening and bowling. Above all else, Yogi will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Patricia Ruth Donnelly Anderson; children, William L. Anderson, Sr. (Judith) of Newark, Susan E. Tobin (James) of St. Georges and Steven R. Anderson (Patricia) of Newark; grandchildren, Steve R. Anderson (Laura), Mandie L. Johnson (Steve), Kelly M. Geldof (Justin), Kristine M. Anderson, Jamie M. Tobin (Kim) and William L. Anderson, Jr. (Carrie); and 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of both the independent living and rehabilitation departments of Churchman Village for the excellent care provided to Yogi during his time there.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Yogi's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
