BASS, Mrs. Ethel Mae Pugh "MawMaw", a resident of Tallassee, AL. passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the age of 85 at her residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chana Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Eclectic. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Bass is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Bennie C. Bass; daughter Jane Bass (Larry) Sims; son, Bennie Wayne Bass; grandson, Larry Jason (Randee) Sims; granddaughter, Shannon Marie Sims; great-grandsons, Wesley Jason Sims and Cooper Jackson Sims. She is also survived by her sister, Jamie Pugh Slay; brothers, Floyd (Geraldine) Pugh, Charles "Billy" (Rebecca) Pugh, David (Myra) Pugh, and sister-in-law Joanne Pugh and many dear nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Esley Pugh and Jessie Mae Darnell Pugh Weldon; brothers, Carl Pugh and Gordon Pugh; sisters-in-law Frances Pugh and Ruth Pugh and brother-in-law, Grady Slay. Mrs. Bass was retired after serving more than 25 years as secretary and bookkeeper for the Elmore County High School in Eclectic; Pallbearers will be her nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Tallassee Community Hospice Care, 805 Friendship Rd., Tallassee, AL 36078 or your favorite cemetery fund or charity. The family would like to thank the Community Hospice Care of Tallassee for their love, support and care.
