Verlinda Magruder was born in 1690 to Samuel and Sarah Magruder, second generation natives of Maryland. The maiden name of Sarah Magruder is a mystery yet solved. The prevailing opinion (2017) is that it is Mills, daughter of William & Tabitha Mills of Calvert County, Maryland. For decades, researchers attributed Sarah Magruder's maiden name as Beall. This was proved incorrect.

Much is known about about Verlinda's father, Col. Samuel Magruder. He was born in Calvert County, Marland and removed to Prince George's County where he patented land called "Good Luck". Samuel is described as a Gentleman, a Justice (1697- 1705) and Capt. of the Militia. He was also a Civil and Military Officer of Prince George's County in 1696. Between 1704-1707 he was a Member of the House of Burgesses, and one of His Majesty's Commissioners in 1696. Samuel's will was probated in Prince George's County, in 1710/11 (Liber 13, folio 210). His bonds can be found in Box 2, folder 78 and his inventory in Box 2, folder 55. His estate accounts are spread from 1718 to 1734. Samuel Magruder's children documented in his will are:
1. Samuel Magruder
2. Elizabeth Magruder
3. Verlinder Magruder, b. 1690. To receive, with Mary & Elinor 2/3 of personal estate.
4. Mary Magruder
5. Elinor Magruder
6. Ninian Magruder
7. John Magruder

Verlinda Magruder married John Beall in 1712 in Prince George's County, Maryland after her father's death. John and Verlinda Beall were buried side by side on the Beall farm in Prince George's County and later redistricted to Frederick County, Maryland. There are no tombstones to mark the graves.

Verlinda Magruder Beall's Will was probated in March 27, 1745, three years after the death of her husband, John Beall. Book DD, No 3, pg. 93.
