Janie "Nell" Southerland Ellis February 13, 1919 - March 12, 2006 PHENIX CITY, AL — Janie "Nell" Southerland Ellis, 87, of Phenix City, AL , died Sunday , March 12, 2006 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ga. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City this evening (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. EST. Mrs. Ellis was born February 13, 1919 in Pleasant Plains Community in Houston County, AL, daughter of the late Arthur Cody Southerland and Julia Buckhalt Southerland. She was a homemaker and a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was a past Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband Jack G. Ellis, a brother and sister. She is survived by: two daughters, Carol Ellis Tannebaum and husband Charles of Springfield, Ore., and Genevieve Ellis Silvia and husband Doug of Macon, Ga.; six sons, Jerry Ellis and wife Carmen of Valdosta, Ga., Lionel Ellis and wife Cheryl of Stockbridge, Ga., Art Ellis and wife Martha of Alpharetta, Ga., Larry J. Ellis and wife Becky of Montgomery, Ala., Andrew Ellis and wife Brenda of Phenix City, Ala., David Ellis of Marietta, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur C. Southerland and wife Vadius of Columbus; sister-in-law, Dura Ellis of Smiths Station, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews.
