John Henry Norris, son of Robert and Elizabeth Norris, was born in Johnstown, Sept 20, 1858 and died at his home in Lacey, July 13, 1934, aged 75 years, 9 months and 23 days. His entire life was spent in this nearby communities. April 28, 1881, he was united in marriage with Jessie Tarbell and to this union six children were born, Robert dying in infancy. Mr. Norris spent the earlier years of his life on the farm but in 1901 he entered the hardware business which he continued for nineteen years and then returned to the farm. he took a great interest in his community and worked diligently for projects for its improvement.
He leaves to morn his loss, a faithful wife, two sons, W.I. Norris of Battle Creek, Clare of Lacey, three daughters, Mrs. Winnie Buxton of Maple Grove, Mrs. Vida Jewell of Beulah, Mrs. Mary lee of Johnstown, one brother George of Hope, two sisters, Mrs. Nora Clemence of Johnstown, Mrs. Daisy Bergman of Hope, eight grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends who held him in high esteem. He was a man of sterling qualities and will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 2 P.M. conducted by Rev. L.L. Dewey. Interment was made in the Union cemetery.
