John Rogers was born August 2, 1933 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to Edna and Elmer Rogers. He passed away April 1, 2012 at Lubbock, Texas at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 29 days. John moved with his parents to Elk City and later to California. He moved back to Elk City. He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was married to Nadean 'Dean' Lowrance at Sayre, Oklahoma on February 20, 1960. They lived in California, Missouri and Iowa before moving to the Delhi community and later into Sayre in 1973 to make their home. John farmed in the Delhi community for Tom Tennery and Olin Wilson. They owned and operated the West Main DX in Sayre and he later went back to farming for Sam Thornbrough and Marvin Stewart and worked part time for the Beckham County District #1. He was a member of the Sayre Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his His Wife, Dean, of the home; 1 Son, Ronnie Sowell and wife, Sherlie, Lubbock, TX; 2 sisters, Carolyn Ornburn, Canada; Brenda Belleci, Alaska; 2 brothers, Darrell Rogers and wife, Carol, Atwater, CA; Ronnie Rogers and wife, Judy, Atwater, CA; 4 sisters-in-law, Corene Manning, Sayre, OK, Elwanda Rogers, Littlefield, TX; Cathy Rogers, California; Gaylene Rogers, South Carolina; 2 beloved grandchildren, Staci Herrley and husband, Kyle, Snyder, TX; Shane Sowell and fiancee', Irma Perez, Spade, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Michaela Sowell and Ronald Thomas Sowell, both of Spade, TX; 1 special cousin, Jerry Tyson, Sayre, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
