Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Hugh Upton, 56, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles officiating. Burial was in McFerrin Cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Upton, a truck driver, died Wednesday, August 4, 1999, at his home.
Born April 11, 1943, in Overton County, he was the son of Loverda Bilbrey Upton of Cookeville and the late Norman Hugh Upton.
He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Kathy Upton, Cookeville; two daughters, Denise Dunn and Tabitha Upton, both of Cookeville; two sisters, Reba Upton, Cookeville, and Shirley McCarey, Colorado; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Daron Dunn, Scottie Key, Dustin Vaughn, Jimmy Stevens, Jay Whitson, and Vestal Peterman. Honorary pallbearer was Talmadge Carr.
