Services for Elmo Jamerson Gipson, 87, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Michael Calhoun officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada. Military honors will be provided by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard.

Mr. Gipson died April 11, 2001, at his home. He was born November 15, 1913, at Jesse to William Loren Gipson and Sylvia Williams.

He was a longtime resident of this area. He was a charter member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church. He was an equipment operator for Ideal Cement Co. for 33 years, and also did some farming and ranching. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He married Roberta Hagler on February 5, 1933, near the Sunshine community.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Gipson, of the home; a son, Sylvester Gipson, Ada; four daughters, Elmalene Hamilton and Fern Lookout, both of Bartlesville, Carmell Everett, Roff, and Lolita Faught, Wilson; 19 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Bearers are Phil Shivers, Travis Ellison, Randy Ellison, Luke Tatum, Glen Dale Tatum and James Treas.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
