Adele Dwyer Fordyce passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, age 102. She was born November 15, 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Michael and Marie (nee Watson) Dwyer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward W. Fordyce, and a brother, Embert Watson Dwyer. Surviving are two daughters, a son, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a nephew.

Adele was raised in St. Louis, graduated from City House, attended Hollins College, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and its president her senior year. Following graduation she worked at various positions including as executive secretary to an account executive at J. Walter Thompson Advertising Company, which led to her move to Chicago. There she married Dave Garroway, who was later to become the host of the Today Show on NBC, and they had one daughter. After their divorce in 1946 she and her daughter returned to St. Louis where she became Executive Secretary for the St. Louis Junior League for seven years.

In 1954 Adele married Edward Winfield Fordyce, a widower with two children. Adele was a dedicated member of The Wednesday Club for many years, volunteered at the Art Museum, the History Museum, the Monday Literary Club, Planters Garden Club, and the Women's Service League at the Church of St. Michael and St. George. She was a very active member of the assisted living community at McKnight Place Assisted Living, and touched all who knew her with her positive attitude and love of life. Her kind and open spirit attracted many dear friends there and throughout the St. Louis community.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Food Pantry at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 33 N Clay Ave, Ferguson, MO 63135, or to a charity of your choice.

Services: A memorial service will be held Friday, October 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael and St. George, 6345 Wydown Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105. Burial will be private.
