Norman E. DeCoste, 79, of Bourne, passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside September 15, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Heney) DeCoste; and son of the late Harold and Alberta DeCoste. Norman graduated from Abington High School in 1953 and worked a number of years in the bookbinding industry at firms in Abington and Boston. He owned and operated Cataumet Garden Center with his wife and son Bryan for 20 years until his retirement. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also enjoyed discovering his ancestral ties to Nova Scotia, making numerous trips to visit with new found family members. He loved taking long walks, watching boat traffic along the Cape Cod Canal gardening and reading. Most of all he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him. In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, Norman is survived by 3 children, Bryan DeCoste and wife Monique of Centerville, Steven DeCoste and wife Barbara of Avon, Ohio, Paulette Kelly and husband Chris of Wake Forest, N.C.; his brother, Richard DeCoste; sister, Lois Cruz; 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Kelsey, Madison, Nicole; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold DeCoste Jr. A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte. 151), Mashpee, Sunday, September 21, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville, Monday, September 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Norman to the Bourne Food Pantry, P. O. Box 144, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532, or to the Alzheimers Services of Cape Cod & Islands for Research, 712 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
