Sept 15, 1899 Died at the home of her son, Mr Calvin Holland in Columbia County FL, on Aug 3, Mrs Mary P Holland aged 78. Mrs Holland was a sister of Frank Cook, of Palmetto, and of Miss Ellen Cook of Newnan. The death of this talented woman will be learned with sorrow by many friends in Coweta, where she was a resident for more that threescore years, having recently moved to Florida to spend her last days with her only son.
She professed religion and joined the Methodist church en early girlhood. Her consistent life and king and charitable deeds bore testimony of the pure Christianity which sustained her through many adversities and forty years of widowhood. This unusually cultured and highly intellectual lady retained to the end the strength of mind and intellect which characterized her long life. Her loss is a sad one to those who loved her, and found comfort and strength in her wise counsel. A Friend.
