WELLSVILLE Kenneth Eugene Shaffer, 64, died Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2014, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Cooper) Shaffer to whom he was married 30 years. Born August 29, 1950, in Hanover, he was the son of Virginia (Reynolds) Shaffer of Dover and the late Phillip Shaffer. Ken was a member of Pinchot Park Assembly of God, Wellsville. He worked for the York Stone Quarry for 18 years and most recently for York Building Products for the last 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, working outside, and socializing with people. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, David Shaffer and his wife, Eileen of Dover; stepsons, James Redden and his wife, Cynthia of York, Clarence Smyth, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Carlisle, Raymond Smyth of York, and Damon Smyth of Dillsburg; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Phillip Shaffer, Jr. of York, erry Shaffer of Dover, Lynn Shaffer of York, and Bradley Shaffer of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Timothy Imes, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pinchot Park Assembly of God Church, 2755 Rosstown Road, Wellsville, PA 17365.
