Frank J. Gulla, Sr., 95, of Princeton Avenue, Palmerton, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Palmerton Campus. He was the husband of the late Mary T. (Kaplan) Gulla who passed in 2002. Born in Lebanon County, he was a son of the late John and Josephine (Sevcik) Gulla-Holka. Frank worked in the slab zinc department of the former NJ Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 43 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member, eucharistic minister and volunteer of St. Vincent DePaul Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton. Frank was a life member and former assistant fire chief of Palmerton Volunteer Fire Co. #1. He was a life member of Palmerton Rod and Gun Club, member of Slovak Catholic Sokol Gymnastic Union and former assistant baseball coach of West End Little League. Frank enjoyed participating in scouting for many years.
Survivors: Daughter, Mary E. Haja of Sun City West, AZ; sons, John F. and wife Jacqueline of Viera, FL, Frank J., Jr. and wife Deborah of Lehigh Furnace, Northern Lehigh; six grandchildren, Michelle, John, Kimberly, Joel, Heather and Jason; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter.
