Obituary: Ottumwa Courier April 8, 1999
Ottumwa - Byron Morgan, 82 of Unionville, Mo., formerly of Ottumwa, died on April 7, 1999, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
He was born on April 9, 1916, in Livonia, Mo., to Joseph T. and Dell Vina Hogg Morgan. He married Lola White on Dec. 24, 1934, in Unionville, MO.
He was raised in the Omaha and Mendota area and attended Abbott School . He and his wife lived in the Omaha area while he worked in the coal mines. They later moved to Ottumwa, where they farmed and he worked for John Morrell. He retired in 1979, and he and his wife returned to Unionville, Mo.
He is survived by his wife: two sons, Richard Morgan of Pollock, Mo., and Rick Morgan of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Raymond Morgan of Floris and Roy Morgan of Livonia, Mo.; and two sisters, Agnes Archer of Livonia, Mo., and Shirley Robison of Pulaski.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Morgan; two sisters, Nellie Montgomery and Mable Newland; and a grandson, Courtney Dean Morgan.
The service will be 1p.m. Saturday at Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo., the Rev. Jim Ingersol officiating. Burial will be in Thompso n Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to Thompson Cemetery and contributions may be left at or mailed to Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville, MO.

Byron is the 2nd child of Ted and Dell Morgan. Byron farmed in Putnam County, Missouri, operated a service station in Hartford, Missouri, farmed near Floris, Iowa, worked in orchards in Yakama, Washington, and farmed near Ottumwa, Iowa, while working at John Morrell. He retired from John Morrell & Co. The day Byron & Lola were married Agnes
stood by the window crying for as long as she could see them going down the road. It was Christmas Eve and they left in a sleigh, pulled by horses.
