Mr. Thomas Junior Miles, 83, of Lanett died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at Lanett Congregational Christian Church with the Revs. Roy Bain and Jim Luttrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Miles is survived by his wife, Annie Ruth Belcher Miles of Lanett; his daughter, Peggy S. (Bill) Webb of Decatur, Ga.; two sons, Joe S. (Pat) Belcher Jr. of Woodstock, Ga., and Bob (Joy) Belcher of Lanett; five grandchildren, Alana Arrowood of Atwood, Ga., Angel Belcher and Jacob Belcher, both of Lanett, Joseph Webb of Decatur, Ga., and Jamie (Mack) Waldrop of Valley; five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Born July 9, 1919 in Lanett, Mr. Miles was retired from the former Merritt Brothers Construction Co. He also worked for many years in Lanett Mill, where he was supervisor of painting for many years, and at Goodman Decorating Co. in Atlanta, Ga. He served in the U.S. Navy, Fleet and Shore, 13th Naval District during World War II. He was active in Lanett Congregational Christian Church, where he had served on the board of trustees. Mr. Miles was the son of the late Josie Tarver Miles and Tom Miles.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice, Lanett Congregational Christian Church or Community Chapel Church of God.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 20 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.
