HAMILTON - Author Earl Jones, 55, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. He was born Dec. 19, 1949, to Will Henry Jones and Olean Hood Jones in Monroe County. He was a life long resident of Hamilton. He graduated from Hamilton High School and was No. 55 on the football team. He attended Center Hill Baptist Church and he was a Mason.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen with the Rev. Terry Edwards and the Rev. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in the Center Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Baucom Jones of Hamilton; three daughters, Tracey Reeves and husband, Ray, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Wendy Jones of Hamilton, and Sandra Caples and husband, Jeff, of Starkville; one son, Dennis Earl Jones and wife, Amanda, of Sulligent, Ala.; three sisters, Margaret Gann and Hazel Morris of Aberdeen, and Sherrell Gill and husband, Bobby, of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Harold Jones.
Pallbearers will be Chris Reeves, Chris Baugh, Terry Reed, Steven Gill, James Gill, Mitchell Baucom, Acker McGee and Keith Roebuck. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Baugh, Benny Calahan, Dr. Ed Miller and Mitch Mitchell.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
