His birthplace is incorrectly documented as "Michigan" on the 1940 US Census record as well as on his death certificate. He is found living with his daughter Dorothy & her family on the 1940 census.

While his name does appear on a memorial erected in Maple Ridge Cemetery (Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan) for his first wife Sarah, he is NOT buried with her. His death certificate indicates that he was cremated at the Chapel of the Pines Crematorium in Los Angeles, California.

Grave marker shows details of Sarah Jane Atkins, first wife of Joseph Clem Eagle. She died about four years after they married. The marker also shows the name of her husband but he is not buried with her; he was cremated in Los Angeles.
