Mrs. Iona Roper Cargile
April 22, 1938 - September 16, 2014

Richie Iona Cargile, 76, of Covington, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. She was born in Franklin, NC to Ernest and Annie Wilkes Roper. Mrs. Cargile was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Eastern Star, and was involved with various charitable organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cargile is survived by her daughters Yvonne Cheshire of Lilburn, Dolores Dodson of Oxford, Stephanie Cargile of Covington, Yolanda Clark of Covington, Mona Gates of Covington; son Patrick Cargile of Shady Dale; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Roper officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Williams Payne Cemetery in Monticello. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
