ARAPAHOE -- Lyle Harold Weber was born April 26, 1953, to Harold and Marie (Ziebell) Weber in McCook. He passed away March 7, 2006, in Omaha at the age of 52.
Lyle was raised on a farm north of Arapahoe. He entered grade school at Immanuel Lutheran School north of Arapahoe and was confirmed into the Trinity Lutheran Church in 1967. He attended the Arapahoe Public Schools starting in the seventh grade and graduated from there in 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Horton, on March 3, 1973, and made their home in Arapahoe. They were celebrating their 33rd wedding anniversary at Mahoney State Park near Omaha.
Lyle worked for his father-in-law at the Arapahoe Ready Mix until its closing, then worked for the Co-ops in the Arapahoe and Edison communities. For the past 14 years, he was employed by Nebraska Pork Partners, formerly known as Sands Inc., and was the manager at the Furnas County Nursery at the time of his death. When he was not working, he enjoyed driving his pickup around Arapahoe with his two golden retrievers, as they visited with friends and neighbors. Lyle also enjoyed hunting and spending time at the farm north of Arapahoe with his wife and sons. During the summer, Lyle and Colleen spent time together mowing lawns for many people in the community. Lyle was active in 4-H Club in his youth, helped with the Webelos, was a member of the Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin siblings, Carol Hallman and Darrel Weber, who died in infancy; and father-in-law, Van, and mother-in-law, Lora Horton, of Arapahoe.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen of Arapahoe; two sons, Clayton Weber and wife, Krystal of McCook and Jay Weber of Lincoln; one grandson, Kellen Weber of McCook; sister, June and husband, Don Warner of Kearney; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with Pastor Michael Flury officiating, with burial following at the Arapahoe Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 1-8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe.
