Mary Bonner was the eldest daughter of Anthony Bonner, Gentleman, and Bridget Savage (dau. of Christopher Savage and Anne Lygon) of Campden, Gloucestershire. Siblings were: Anne Goddard, Anthony Bonner, Jr., Joan Wyatt, Elizabeth Culpeper and George Bonner.

Through her mother, Mary was a descendant of several Magna Carta barons, as well as King John via son King Henry III.

She was first married to a much older widower, WILLIAM YONGE (Young) of Caynton, Edgmond, Shropshire about 1579, after the death of his first wife, Anne (Sneyde). Mary and William Yonge had just one daughter, BRIDGET YONGE, baptized 25 Aug 1583 at Edgmond.

William Yonge of Caynton, Edgmond died in Dec. 1583, leaving Mary with baby Bridget. Three years later she married THOMAS COMBE, SR of Stratford-On-Avon on "10 Januari 1586" at Holy Trinity Church. Mary and second husband Thomas Combe had six children, all born at Stratford between 1586-1596. Four lived to adulthood (William, Thomas, Jr., Mary and Joyce) and were baptised at Stratford's Holy Trinity Church. The Corn Inquiry of 1595 indicated 14 people in the crowded household and they moved into the spacious College House, across from Holy Trinity Church.

It is well-documented that playwright William Shakespeare bequeathed his sword in his will to their youngest son, Thomas Combe, Jr. Despite errors perpetuated in old Warwickshire records and Wikipedia, Mary (Bonner) Yonge Combe was the natural mother of William (1586-1667) and Thomas Combe, Jr. (1588-1657), who were Bridget's HALF-BROTHERS, not step-brothers.

Thomas Combe, SR wrote his will on 22 December 1608. He died at Stratford (buried 11 Jan 1609) and left the College House to "Mary, my well beloved wife" in his will. She lived there until her death. "Mrs Mary Combe, gentlewoman, widow" was buried in Holy Trinity church on 5 April 1617, as per Stratford Holy Trinity Parish Registers.
