He was the husband of Brenda L. Antone Boyd.
Born in St. Augustine, FL on March 27, 1936, the son of the late Samuel Boyd and Georgia Davenport Boyd.
Mr. Boyd was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was employed as a Maintenance Foreman for 25 years at Raytheon and also worked as a carpenter with Trout Construction Company and later with Dennis Brothers before retiring.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Green Valley Country Club and enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry, cooking, music and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Samuel Alonzo Boyd and Michael D. Boyd; his sisters, Olamay Anderson and Beatrice Lewis; his son-in-law, Pete Garris; in-laws, Marylou Antone and the late Joseph Antone.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, his daughters-in-law, 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., Newport, RI.
Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.
