Marvin Niels "Mark" Petersen, son of Niels and Katherine (Andersen) Petersen, was born on August 29, 1921 in Turner County near Hurley, SD. He attended Hurley schools and served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He married Mary List who preceded him in death. Mark farmed near Hurley for many years before moving to Sioux Falls in 1960. He was a construction worker prior to his retirement. Mark was united in marriage with Bernice (Hodne) Petterson on July 18, 1987 at Springdale Lutheran Church near Sioux Falls. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sioux Falls.
Mark was a member of Springdale Lutherab Church and also enjoyed playing cards.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bernice; three step-children, Richard, Gary, Diane; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harland; three sisters, Margie; Irene; Alvia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary List; one stepson, Carter Petterson; one step-grandson, Brad Petterson; three brothers, Edward, Chris, and Edsel Petersen; and five sisters, Clara Larsen, Marie Gerdes, Lois Christensen, Anna Hansen, and Ruby Koehler.
