Merrill J Matter

Georgetown Merrill Jonathan Matter 50 a laboratory worker with International Paper Co In Georgetown died Friday at Georgetown County Hospital after an illness of one month.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 4 pm at the Mayer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Mr Matter was born Dec 3 1918 at Harrisburg PA a son of Edgar D Matter and Mrs Isabell Durst Matter. He attended the schools of Harrisburg and lived in Louisiana before coming to Georgetown in 1956. A Lutheran, he was a World War II veteran and a member of VFW Post 6444.

Surviving are his widow Mrs Emma Lou Baxley Matter; three daughters Miss Katherine Matter of Charleston Miss Marilyn Matter of Georgetown a son Thomas Matter of Georgetown a brother Edgar Paul Matter of Baton Rouge, LA and a nephew and a niece.
